This month, Action for Change Foundation (ACF) celebrated a major milestone as local horticulture groups in Baucau and Ermera municipalities completed their first harvests of fresh produce. These harvests are part of ACF’s project, “Self-Employment to Enhance Agricultural Production & Promote Local Nutritious Crops,” aimed at improving agricultural practices and promoting sustainable livelihoods in rural Timor-Leste.
The produce from these initial harvests was quickly brought to nearby markets, supporting local food security and providing a vital source of income for the communities involved. The success of these harvests reflects the dedication of the local farmers and the ongoing support from ACF and its partner, the Civil Society Support Office (GASC).
Building on this momentum, ACF continues to work closely with local authorities and community leaders and is hopeful to expand these initiatives further in the future. With continued support and potential future funding, there is the possibility of extending the horticultural activities to additional villages, allowing more communities to benefit from improved agricultural practices and economic opportunities. As ACF looks ahead, the foundation remains committed to fostering sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life for rural communities across Timor-Leste.
