The Action for Change Foundation (ACF) team, in collaboration with the Civil Society Support Office (GASC), has taken significant strides in empowering rural communities through sustainable agriculture. On Friday, ACF conducted a preliminary meeting and monitoring session with the horticulture group in sub-village Moris Foun, Talimoro village, Ermera municipality.
This initiative is part of ACF’s broader project, Self-Employment to Enhance Agricultural Production & Promote Local Nutritious Crops in Baucau & Ermera. Running from May to December 2024, the project aims to advance agricultural knowledge and create employment opportunities in these municipalities.
During the meeting, ACF Director Veronica de Sousa expressed gratitude for the partnership with GASC, which is crucial for implementing the community empowerment program. This program focuses on leveraging horticultural activities to benefit rural communities.
Veronica urged the community group to maintain unity and peace within their ranks while ensuring the quality of their horticultural activities. She emphasized these efforts would contribute to the long-term sustainability and success of the project.
Local leaders appreciated GASC’s financial support, enabling ACF to implement horticultural projects in their communities. Antonio R. de Jesus Soares, a community observer, noted the prevalence of agriculture in Ermera and the potential for revitalizing abandoned lands through creative and sustainable farming practices.
