Empowering Communities Through Agriculture

Action for Change Foundation, in collaboration with the Civil Society Support Office (GASC), is proud to announce the commencement of a new pilot project aimed at improving agricultural practices and fostering economic opportunities within East Timor. Self-Employment to Enhance Agricultural Production & Promote Local Nutritious Crops in Baucau & Ermera marks an important step towards community empowerment and sustainable development.

Scheduled to take place from May to December 2024, this project is dedicated to advancing agricultural knowledge and creating employment prospects in the municipalities of Baucau and Ermera. Through a structured approach encompassing three primary objectives, the initiative aims to catalyse positive change within rural communities:

  1. Capacity Building for Agricultural Groups: Action for Change Foundation will establish, develop and empower rural agricultural groups with essential skills and knowledge to elevate agricultural practices and productivity levels.
  2. Job Creation and Skill Development: Recognising the significance of employment in fostering economic resilience, the initiative aims to generate job opportunities in Baucau and Ermera.
  3. Promotion of Domestic Crop Cultivation: By reducing dependency on imported produce and stimulating domestic agricultural production, the initiative aims to bolster food security and economic resilience within East Timor.

With 10 direct beneficiaries and many indirect beneficiaries from rural communities situated in the sub-villages of Cai-Holo and Moris Foun, this initiative represents a collaborative effort towards fostering inclusive growth and prosperity. Action for Change Foundation invites stakeholders and residents alike to participate actively in this exciting new opportunity.

Action for Change Foundation remains committed to championing sustainable development and empowering communities across East Timor. Join us as we cultivate change and sow the seeds of progress within our beloved nation. Thanks very much to GASC for funding this important project.
